Newsarama reports that Cartoon Network in the USA have announced the official air date for the much hyped Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series which is a direct follow up to the recent Clone Wars movie which was met with mixed reviews from critics and Star Wars fans alike.

The Clone Wars fills in the middle chapters of the Star Wars story and is set in the spaces between Star Wars: Attack Of The Clones and Star Wars: Revenge Of The Sith. The series follows the adventures of Anakin Skywalker and his Charge Obi-Wan Kenobi as they do battle with the Clone Army that is under the direct control of the insidious Sith Lord Chancellor Palpatine.

The animated series will premier with a special one hour episode on October 3rd at 9 p.m. (ET, PT) with a special one-hour presentation that anchors the Network’s all-new night of fantasy, action and adventure. The new series will comprise part of the infamous Cartoon Network Friday Night Schedule

I am confused.

First there was the Clone Wars cartoon series on the Cartoon Network, then a film by the same name, then a series again?!?

Yes, due to the popularity of the 5-minute episode series, they decided to do a real Cartoon series with full 30 minutes episodes.

The Animated Clone Wars movie was the launching pad for the TV series.

Also, be prepared for a live action Star Wars TV series within the next couple of years.
