Going to GenCon this year I was a little disappointed when I learned there were no media celebrities. My first visit to GenCon in 2004 they had some great guests: Erin Gray, Gil Gerard, Marc Singer, Herbert Jefferson, Walter Koenig, Linda Blair, Tanya Roberts, and others (I got my picture taken with Erin Gray!). That was fantastic! So, how would it be without any media celebrities? Well, to be honest, I didn't even miss them! This year was great! I don't know yet how it compared number-wise to previous years, but to me it seemed bigger than ever. I know thousands of people attended (and it seemed like they were all in the hallways after the exhibit hall closed on Saturday!). The exhibit hall was so big and fun that you probably could spend most of your time in there during the four days and still not hit everything.
So, basically, it was a great time! Most of the costumes were amazing. Some I didn't get like the kid walking around with a painted box on his head. Nice thing is since Indianapolis is relatively close, you can actually visit GenCon on a day trip. However, to get a great experience you really need to spend a couple of days there. And trust me when I tell you that you can get some really great deals on hotels near downtown!
