Writer Ray Bradbury announced that his best-selling novel Dandelion Wine has been optioned as movie.
The semi-autobiographical novel was first published in 1957 and is set in 1928 and centers on a 12-year-old boy as he experiences small-town, summer life.
Bradbury, who turned 91 today (Aug22nd), said, “This is the best birthday gift I could ask for. Today, I have been reborn! Dandelion Wine is my most deeply personal work and brings back memories of sheer joy as well as terror. This is the story of me as a young boy and the magic of an unforgettable summer which still holds a mystical power over me.”
Bradbury will serve as an executive producer on the project with Phoenix Pictures’ Mike Medavoy. The script will be adapted by Rodion Nahapetov.
