OK, so I'm thinking of getting Win7 for the household and the many computers floating around here... roughly seven of them... three of which are high use/main computers...


However that's a few bucks that I'd rather not spend... 7 pcs x $199 (Win7 Pro) for ~$1400...


But Microsoft was good enough to package a 3 seat version of Win7 Home for $149... Sweet!


Near as I can tell the only real feature I would sacrifice between Home and Pro would be backup/restore...


Wait! Are you telling me that MS left out a backup utility from their entry level OS again???

Re backups - use robocopy?

It depends what you want from a backup system of course, what exactly you want it to protect against, but for most of my customers I use a script that uses robocopy to synchronise the files to a storage device.

I'd say go with Home Premium. Tis a pretty nice package all around.

I think the Home version is the way to go vs. what you pay for Pro or Ultimate.

I am running the free copy of Ultimate I got and I am glad that I did not pay for it, there just isnt enough here to justify the price IMHO.
