The latest issue of Game Informer magazine has revealed that a new STAR TREK game is currently in development on PC and Xbox 360.

STAR TREK LEGACY is in development at Mad Doc Software and is scheduled for release by Bethesda Game Studios in September 2006.

Speaking to Game Informer magazine, Mad Doc CEO Ian Lane Davis said: "We've always wanted to do a STAR TREK game that captures the core STAR TREK fantasy.

"When you look at the history of STAR TREK games, there have been some good games, but we felt we haven't had the chance to make the game the STAR TREK fans want until now."

The game will focus on ship versus ship combat, and you'll start off in charge of the Enterprise NX-01.An action/strategy game, LEGACY will span all shows with a single player campaign split into three time periods: ENTERPRISE, THE ORIGINAL SERIES, and THE NEXT GENERATION.

"There's action, but it's not like 'I'm a figher pilot' action. It's 'I command a starfleet' action... We treat the ships as your characters," Lane Davis explained.

"When a ship dies, that's a big thing in Star Trek. It only happens a few times in the whole 700-plus hours of the whole Star Trek cannon where you see the Enterprise get destroyed. It's a big thing and it should mean something."

The game will also feature multiplayer support for up to eight players on PC and Xbox Live where you'll be able to take command of Federation, Klingon, Borg and Romulan vessels.

Hope this hasn't been posted before.

It's about a week old but very cool to me. I am definitely looking forward to this game especially since it's from the same company that made Oblivion.

I was sure I had posted something about this somewhere, but I could not find it.

So yeah, I am very much looking forward to this one simply because its the Oblivion dudes.

I have played through Oblivion as well as Morrowind and Bethesda Software games rock.

Did you play either of these games?

You know, I have a decent PC but I never play games on it. I have an Xbox 360 and am pretty happy with it. I do have Oblivion and absolutely love it altho I have not put much time into it lately. Never played Morrowind or it's expansions but now I am curious.

Some friends at my company actually got to try out ST Legacy back at E3 and even then said it looked and played very well. The latest date I see for it is early October.

Anyone else got a 360?

I have a PS2, but I dont play it. My son plays on it all the time.

I prefer games on the PC, I think they look better and play better, without a keyboard and mouse, I think consoles are pretty handicapped.

I love building, maintaining and upgrading PC's, so its all part of the hobby for me.

Playing with a keyboard and mouse is very, very foreign to me. I wouldn't know where to begin. Always loved a joystick in my hands (that doesn't sound right).

Also, I really enjoy sitting on Lazy Boy watching the widescreen tv and having all 7 speakers hit me. Just a matter of preference I guess. I'd like to start a thread asking everyone what kind of setup they have in their living rooms...has that been done before?
