I am trying to figure out how I missed Company of Heroes. I picked it and its expansion up a few weeks ago when it was on sale and wow it a kick *** RTS.

CoH came out last year and I love RTS games so I should have been all over it.

I am really having a lot of fun with it and it looks awesome and the Havok Physics engine in it really rocks and with stunning surround sound explosions makes the game just a joy to play.

I have also been playing the very early beta of Demigod. Its too early to really judge the game as not all of the features are in yet and there is only one map. But I can see that it has pretty high potential of being a very fun game.

I got a chance to check out Spore and its a bore fest, I have no desire to play it ever again.

I also picked up The Witcher:Enhanced Edition. Its an excellent RPG where they re-wrote all the dialouge, brought in all new voice over talent, upgraded the graphic engine and put in all new cut scenes and added some new quest content as well.

All the reviews on the game from last year I could find give it an excellent rating, so with the enhanced version out for $39, I bought it last night on Impulse, but I havent played it yet.

I am looking forward to the LOTRO expansion, Starcraft II and maybe Diablo III.

I have my hands full with games to play and its a good feeling. I love having plenty to do with my gaming time. 8)

How about you guys?

Been playing a lot of WoW, and that's pretty much it for PC. XBOX 360 I just picked up Tiger Woods '09 and it has been a pleasent suprise. Tons of fun, customizable players, you can even upload a photo of yourself and make your golfer look a heck of a lot like you do. It's almost a little strange. Then of course there is my old stand-by Forza 2 which I'll keep playing until they come out with Forza 3 or an F1 racing game. I mess around with GTA IV some too, but it really got sort of repetitive pretty fast, I also have Assasins Creed which I'm thinking of giving another go soon.

I attempted to get Planescape:Torment running on my box with the widescreen mod. It's not terribly stable, but Sigil has never looked better!

WoW and the WoW beta currently are taking the majority of my gaming time.

Gave Spore a whirl for a bit, but haven't touched it since. Just too boring.

Been thinking about snagging Flatout 3, just because 2 is soo much fun.

Got a DS Lite couple months ago and in between WoW been bouncing between half a dozen games on that.

Consoles, don't own anything past a PS1. Might take a look at Force Unleashed at some point, but it may, just may, come out for the PC too. And waiting on GTA4 for PC here soon.

WoW is pretty much all I have time for...

I did pre-order the expansion when I saw that they had set a date. I'm looking forward to it.

Demigod looks like fun to me. I will likely pick it up when it is closer to release.

Playing a fair bit of Team Fortress 2, it's so addictive! Also trying to get into STALKER Shadow of Chernobyl, but this is my 2nd attempt since last September. I just seem to lose interest and move on to something else. I will also, like Koskun, get Flatout 3 when it goes down in price on Steam. GTA4 will also be a must and I'm hoping it wont be a dissapointment.

Well, I just reinstalled Vista, thanks to Scorp, and can now run opengl again.
I am going to install Prey, Quake, Doom, and Jedi Knight.

I spoke too soon. I think I know what is wrong. Vista automatically installs it's own video driver that apparently doesn't support all my 9600's features. Opengl games than fail because calls are made for those missing features.
I am having a tough time getting rid of the wddm microsoft driver. Any ideas? The ATI 8.9 drivers seems to not really install.

Dawn of War and Half-Life 2.

OP mentioned Company of Heroes. I had a quick look at a gameplay clip in YouTube, looks nice enough, but it doesn't tell me how the game plays. I've been looking for a good 'new' (ie. I haven't played it) RTS game, StarCraft being my favourite and Dawn of War being entertaining but not nearly as polished (units just deciding inexplicably to stop advancing, or just doing nothing while in the middle of a tonne of enemy troops).

- edit - downloading demo atm. But I would like to know your opinion on how the game fits into the RTS genre.

I'm playing HL2 on hard at the moment, I'm trying to get across the bridge and it's hard work. I've completed HL2, ep1 and 2 on standard a couple of times apiece. Definitely better performance with >1GB RAM.

Be sure your computer is not connected to the Internet when you install Vista or uninstall any video drivers or it will go get generic MS drivers.

Be sure that when it asks for drivers you say no and then install your Ati drivers.

I ma currently playing through the Campaign and its a blast, it seems to avoid a lot of RTS weaknesses with resources and Unit Building.

You dont build a boat load of one type of unit that fits your playing style, there are too many situations where you need the various types of units and I like that.

What do you mean about it avoiding RTS weaknesses, presumably there is something you have to do to gain resources to build units?

I know what you mean about the 'one size fits all' army. One thing I would really like to try in an RTS game would be having elements like crossfire, or say a mine has an extremely variable effect on a squad, like if they're all near each other at the time of impact, they might all die, or say one or two survive, just.

Company of Heroes. On download.com it said "Windows 2000 or XP". After three slow, failed downloads from that site I went with fileplanet, which also took a while but less so. Then the game fails to install, saying "XP or Vista required". Grr. I might try playing it on Vista, but the colour correction is way off with DirectX on Vista on my machine (which I haven't found a way to completely correct), and I primarily use Win2k.

Wierd!! What you mean your colour correction is off?

I am running CoH on Vista just fine right now, so you should be good to go with Vista and CoH.
