Talk to me about the look and feel of the game.

How is the combat and magic system? It is typical D&D?

I assume it uses the 3rd edition rules, do you have feats?

The graphics have a realistic feel, where I consider the EQ and WoW graphics to be more cartoony, the game is dark, even in the daytime I have not run into any sunny fields with butterflies flitting around and such, then again I have yet to travel far and wide either. The music and sound effects all play into the feel that the developers tried to create very well. When you enter a dungeon it can be creepy, the models for the monsters and players are very detailed and the combat and spell casting animations are also very cool.

The combat and magic system are based on, if not exactly from the most current edition of Advanced Dungeons and Dragons. There are die rolls and you can set up the UI to display them for you or not per your preference. You can look at character sheets that are laid out just like the ones that I used to get when I played pen and paper D&D they show all your to-hit modifiers etc. And lastly, yes you do have feats. Something else I did not make clear is that, yes it takes a lot of effort to level, but when you do, it's worth it, you get a slew of points to spread about your abilities and a couple of new skills, at least from level one to level two I got one passive and one clickable ability.

Tell me more about the quests.

Are they typical go kill X monsters and return or Fed-Ex style missions?

Some of the quests are pretty typical of what you find in the other MMORPG's, but there are differences that make them unique. For example, one of the quests I had was to recover a book that had been stolen, you have the option of going in and slaughtering all of your foes and taking the book, or you could use stealth and cunning to get to the location of the book with very little combat, this is a technique that I use often being a mostly solo player. The catch to this particular quest was that, once you finally arrived at the room your prize was in, you had to solve a puzzle to get the magical barrier protecting your prize to come down. This puzzle had several tiles surrounding an altar that the prize was on. You could turn the tiles and the idea was to arrange them so that they made a circuit around the base of the alter, once you figured out how to do this the barrier dropped and you could retrieve the item you were sent for.

I mentioned that you could repeat certain quests, the one that I have done repeatedly is to rescue a mans daughter that has been kidnapped by Kobalds and taken into their hideout, my roomie and I joked that she's not really being kidnapped but keeps going down there to see her boyfriend. This quest did not allow you to avoid the combat as much as some of the other quests. There were certain events that took place along the way that had to be dealt with. For example, you find that you are hot on the trail of the kidnappers right away and are actually able to catch up with them, no matter what I did they were able to sense my presence and they locked a door behind them and sent some minions to take me out, you have to kill the baddies to get the key to get passed the door that the kidnappers locked to continue your pursuit.

Most of the quests have a main objective and then bonus objectives that you may discover along the way, and then deal with them or not as you choose, obviously the more objectives you complete the more experience you will receive for completing the quest. At the end of each quest it gives you a break down of how it awarded your XP, ie there are barrels and crates and such that you can break along the way and some of them will have hidden loot in them, the game tracks how many you break and you may get a "vandal" xp bonus. If you kill all the monsters in a dungeon you may be awarded an "aggression" bonus. It shows how many secret doors you were able to uncover and awards a bonus for that, you get bonus's for traps that you are able to defeat.

That all sounds pretty sweet.

I know you havent gotten too deep into the game yet, but knowing me and how I get bored with MMORPG's because all the quests get boring after a while. (specially kill x monsters and return and you have to do that to get XP)

Do you think I would be entertained enough to play the game for a while?

I think you might, so far the quests I have done can be completed in less than an hour, which I know fits into your somewhat limited playing time
