I never put a link for Id software stuff. 4 years late. Tell me if I am dumb and forget to include obvious things.

Just for a joke check out ths guy. He's semi-famous to the Wolfenstein 3D mapping folks. He made Wolfendoom.
He seems to think he is a genius. He does everything including acting, writing, modelling and on and on. Kind of a Mexican American geek. I being a geek also.
The picture is about 20 years old or so.

At the 0ld website (for most of us) we used to find really odd, funny, weird people. Laz fits the bill. Do any of you remember the other ones.

Here is a link to Newwolf a program to run Wolfenstein 3D in modern opengl. I believe Wolfenstein 3D is now in the public domain. Id released the source code. So if you don't have it, it is safe to download it. You need Wolf3d and the downloads from the newwolf site. here is the link:

http://sourceforge.net/project/showfile ... p_id=60692

Here is a great map collection for wolf3d. It is called Remake.zip and has 6 full episodes of maps to play, like the original. It is not a remake of the originals, but a new set of maps by Ken O'Brien.

http://www.belowe.com/Remake.zip

Put the original Wolf3d into it's directory. Put Newwolf into that directory. Put the texture and model packs into that same directory. Download remake.zip and unzip it into that same directory as all the rest have gone. Probably Wolf3d. Let all files be overwritten when it asks.

Enjoy!

Blood's code has never been released. Thus there are no ports to help run the game. All that follows I have no idea whether it works on a 64-bit OS. It does work on 32-bit XP.
Go to the link below for the info to run Blood in 640-480 res.

http://buildxp.deathmask.net/ Basically just follow the directions at this site. I would download all the files you need first and then install both VDMSsound and the vdmssound launcher and install them first.
Then put blood into a directory with the path C:\games\blood. This is so the shortcut you download will find the blood directory.
Then follow the directions in order.
It uses some utilities from the guy who wrote Build code for build games like Blood and Duke3d.

At the link below you will find an install program that will install Amber for XP. It is an early quicktime game that will not install right without this special install program.
Load the game cd and tell the install program where to find the cd.

Id finally released the doom and Wolf3d code into the public domain. Look for alot of engines and mods for these games to be made.

This is correct for now. It keeps being deleted by uptight people.

Above is a link to the DarkPlaces Quake 1 engine.
It is the best port at this time.
When at the above site make sure to download Romi's rtlights file for Quake, and the darkforces models.

Create a darkforces directory
Unzip the darkforces port into that directory
Create an Id1 subdirectory
Copy pako.pak and pak1.pak from quake into the Id1 subdirectory
Follow the directions that come with Romis rtlights and the darkplaces models to install them.
All files can be downloaded from links at the darkforces website.

The lights are really good looking. Romis took time to hand process every single light source in Quake. The care shows.

Enjoy Retro gaming!

http://mhquake.blogspot.com/p/installin ... s-box.html

The above link is directions for installing Quake using dosbox.
Quake will not install on Windows 7 64-bit. You need to use dosbox.
Get a frontend for Dosbox and get the 64-bit version of dosbox.
Once you get it installed just unzip you're favorite Quake source port into the directory.
Dark places or directq are nice ports.

Above is a link to the Ben Jordon series of 8 games.
I am playing number 7. It is quit a good series point and click games. Ben is a supernatural investigator. The games work in Windows 7 64-bit without changing the properties.
Enjoy!
