Filming began earlier today on the first adventures to feature 11th Doctor Who, Matt Smith.
The new costume, which will be worn by Matt Smith in the role as the famous Timelord consists of tweed jacket, bow tie, rolled up trousers and black boots.
Smith will take over the role of Doctor Who from David Tennant, whose last adventures will be seen over the Christmas Holidays.
“I feel very privileged and proud to be part of this iconic show,” Smith said in interview for BBC news.
“The scripts are brilliant – I’m excited about the future and all the brilliant adventures I get to go on as the Doctor.”
Joining the Doctor for his 13 new 45 minute adventures will be new companion Amy Pond who will be played by newcomer Karen Gillan, who meets the Timelord in the opening episode of the series.
There are also big changes happening behind the cameras. These include the much anticipated addition of Stephen Moffat who takes over the day to day production and writing of the show from departing showrunner Russell T. Davies. Joining Moffat are Tracie Simpson who was producer on the Doctor Who Easter Special Planet Of The Dead, and Torchwood Children Of Earth producer Peter Bennett.
“Matt and Karen are going to be incredible, and Doctor Who is going to come alive on Saturday nights in a whole new way,” Moffat said.
