Sony says there will be a sequel to the yet unreleased The Amazing Spider-Man scheduled for May 2, 2014 to kick off the summer of 2014. "I think it speaks volumes about our confidence in what we are seeing on the new film and our desire to move quickly on the next installment," says a Sony exec.

Way too pre-mature, I think there is still a large amount of Spiderman "fatigue" from the previous trilogy.

I know for myself that I feel very apathetic about seeing the story start over again so soon, seems very tedious to me.

I will give a bold prediction right now on 08/06/11 that this reboot will fail on the Superman Returns level and there will not be a Spiderman 2.
