Immortals tells the story of King Hyperion seeking the Epirus Bow so he can release the Titans and declare war on Mt. Olympus. The hero of the story, Theseus, with the help of the Virgin Oracle tries to stop him. That's pretty much the movie described in two sentences.

The movie is very stylish and has a unique look to it. That's about the only good things I can say about the movie. The plot is completely predictable, the writing was terrible, and the acting was just about as bad. There were no surprises at all. If you like to see bodies being torn apart in slow motion over and over and over and over and over and over again, then this movie might be for you.

And the movie has one of the biggest plot oversights I have ever seen.

Click to Read Spoiler:
Towards the end of the movie the gods are battling the Titans, most of the gods getting killed. Zeus's daughter, Athena, is badly wounded. In this chamber they're fighting in there are four huge statues holding up the mountain. When all seems lost, Zeus hops on top of the cage the Titans were in, grabs two chains attached to two of the statues' legs, and pulls. The statues collapse, killing the Titans. So, why didn't Zeus do this in the first place, sparing the lives of his fellow gods?

So, as you may guess, I can't recommend this movie.

From the trailers I wasn't really expecting a plot heavy film, instead I was thinking it might be worth a watch just for the visuals and maybe it would be a fun sword and sandal flick.

So my question to you, despite the plot holes and poor acting,.. Was it fun?

I didn't find it fun at all. I think that's what disappointment me most. I could have overlooked everything else if I still had a good time. There was a moment at the end when I thought something was going to happen that would have been really cool but it didn't. There were a few times when something happened visually and I thought "That was cool" but they overdid it to the point when "cool" became "that's enough".

Hmm,...disappointing news.

From what I heard though it did win the weekend in the box office. Wonder how well it will do in its 2nd week. I'm guessing it will drop off pretty quickly.

I was debating whether or not to make this a matinee splurge,.. :-k , but it appears that there are many other reviewers that feel the same as you. With reviews titled "'Immortals' wont live long" and "'Immortals' kills more than time, but just barely",... I'm thinking I may wait till a home video watching
