I did not get to see all of it last night, but I saw enough to know that it was a piece of dog dodo when compared to the original.

Terrorists? Come one give me a break, this should have been a natural disaster film like the original.

And there is no way a ship is gonna roll over because of one hole in the side. Hell the Titanic had huge gashes riped down one side that allowed water into several compartments and it did not roll over.

The Poseidon only had one hole in one compartment, it should not have even sank let alone roll over.

On the plus side Adam Baldwin (Jane in Firefly/Serenity) did a decent job, but Steve Gutenberg was horrible.

And Peter Weller of Robocop fame was a hard sell as the Captain.

All in all a very forgettable version of a great movie.

Yea... Me and Swarfy saw that it was on, and we both liked the original quite a lot, and in the first 2 minutes you saw terrorists and that was it for the both of us.

I would have been happy if they left the original story and just upgraded the special effects and cast, though Hackman as the Captain would have been neat, but the re-write as a terrorist event was just a completely bad way to have it go.

Hi, kids! :) (Oh,yeah. And you too, Scorp :P )

As an old fart I'm just gonna jump in here real quick.

Actually Gene Hackman originally portrayed the 'Preacher' (Rutger Hauer), and the 'Captain' was (of all people) Leslie Nielsen!

Doesn't matter. The producers of this re-make have tried to taint a precious film memory of mine, and hopefully the damage will fade over time.

(We needed Belle and Manny Rosen, Tough guy Detective Mike Roggo, with his ex-prostitute wife, and two kids on their first voyage away from home on their own. Not a voyueristic brat with a vidcam.)

I just keep telling myself 'It was barely a movie, It was barely a movie..."

I agree Crow..........
The original had so much more..........Hackman was the bomb! Adam Baldwin did a decent job, but this remake was not even close to the original...............not much is in my book!

I know that Hackman was the Preacher, I just would have liked it if they had brought atleast someone from the original into the remake, but I would be willing to bet that the original cast members were offered, looked at the script, and promptly said screw off.
