Starfest ’13 – New Who and the Who We Knew

Friday, May 3rd, 2013

WhoPanel_Doctors Our first panel discussion at Denver Starfest 2013 was “New Who and the Who We Knew”. We compared and contrasted classic Doctor Who with its current incarnation since the 2005 relaunch.

This was a standing room only event and a fantastic discussion! A HUGE thank you to everyone that sat in and especially everyone who contributed!

As always with these convention recordings, the audio isn’t always perfect.

Starfest 2013 Panel – From the Printed Page to the Flickering Screen

Wednesday, April 24th, 2013

PrintThis is a discussion I recorded Sunday, April 21st 2013, at the Denver Starfest Entertainment Convention.

Adaptations of books and stories have been done since the earliest days of movies. Some are faithful, some not so much. We discuss what goes in to condensing our favorite novels and short stories into film.

Huge thanks to all who participated!

It was 9am Sunday morning and I brought coffee!

Starfest 2012 – The Future of the Genre

Monday, May 7th, 2012

The second group discussion from Denver Starfest.
This one is a sort of sequel of last years talk about the technology of sci-fi past and how it has influenced our lives today. Now that we live in the “future”, what is left for science-fiction?

You may want to go back and listen to the first panel, http://jonja.net/wp/?p=169. Not necessary but it wont hurt either.

Super special thanks to everyone who stopped by. You guys were fantastic! We could not have hoped for a better group of people to have this discussion with.

Starfest, Kaku, and You

Sunday, May 8th, 2011

We are slowing adjusting to life after Starfest. We share some of our favorite moments, most of which were spending time with friends new and old.
You get to listen to our interview with Dr. Michio Kaku and we had to acknowledge the passing of a Doctor Who favorite, Elisabeth Sladen. Goodbye Sarah Jane. We won’t forget you.

Memories of Conventions Past

Sunday, March 13th, 2011

It’s convention season and we are gearing up for Denver Starfest and Cincinnati Comic Con, so we thought we’d talk about some of the past conventions we have attended. Some good, some great and some… well, they had their moments.
Plus we remember Nicolas Courtney and and usual talk about a little genre news tidbits.

New voice mail line, 724-jonja-51, that’s (724) 566-5251.

Print is Dead?

Monday, January 17th, 2011

A couple of years ago we hosted a panel discussion at the Denver Starfest convention. The topic was the evolving landscape of the printed word. New e-books had just recently come onto the scene and I was curious what the authors thought of this new medium and whether or not they saw a new beginning or the beginning of the end.
We thought this panel was lost to time due to some severe technical problems.
After much jiggery-pokery we are happy to announce that the audio survived!

Authors in attendance were…

Jeromie Carr & James Dunn

Carrie Vaughn

Julia Phillips

Jeanne Stein

David Boop
